Hi my name is Rob, and my passion in life is soccer. I started playing when I was only 5 years old in the back of St. Anthony’s hospital with the newly established Woodhaven Soccer club. I was hooked from the first day, which I honestly still remember like it was yesterday.
Since then I have accomplished a lot through soccer and the game has taught me many things that I hold strongly till this day not mentioned on my resume. Things like dedication, commitment, and believing anything is possible with hard work. However, it was not always easy for me. I had my fair share of bad coaches and times experienced low self esteem because of playing ability, or lack thereof.
It was not until I decided to take my game and life to the next level and started training 1 on 1 when I was 10 years old with a trainer. He taught me essential fundamentals and whether I realized it or not my confidence was rising. Before I knew it I no longer had any frustration on the field and started to fall in love with the game on a whole new level.
I look to pass along the same knowledge that I have gained over my playing career which has taken me all over the country and even parts of Europe. I played with or against the best players in the country for my age and was always able to hold my own and at times make an impact. The most important thing is that I was / am constantly learning. Whether its from other talented players, high level coaches, or watching the game played at its highest level on television, I am always learning.
For the past 5 years I have been working and learning under Mr. Andy Kostel, a 30+ year head coach at Archbishop Molloy High School and my love for coaching has grown since. The past 2 years, under the title of assistant coach, we have won back to back city championships, and were state finalist in 2008. Currently, we are making another run at a state title to go along with our city championship and ranked 9th in the nation by ESPN.
Whether you want to learn the fundamentals that will enable you to enjoy playing without frustration or learning essential aspects of the game that will take you to the next level and maybe even earn you a college scholarship to a great school one day, I can, and will, help. My love for the game is what drives me. The same confidence I had while playing, I have in my ability to teach and build relationships with the people I meet.
Feel free to contact me at any time, I am very friendly and open to working with kids of all ages and skill sets.
Tiger Woods, Jerry Rice, and even Mozart, were not born with a superhuman ability. However, they were engraved with the will to work harder and more deliberately than anyone else in their field. Talent is not necessary and at times, is overrated.
